The Ron Skidmore Memorial Foundation was created to honor the memory of a firefighter, a paramedic, a teacher, a boss, and a leader. Ron was an individual with an extraordinary personality and an abundance of passion for what he loved. His first love was being a firefighter. Ron became a junior firefighter when he was 16 years old and as he progressed and trained as a firefighter, he found a love for all aspects of emergency services. He showed that love every day in his compassion as a paramedic, his command on a fire scene, his love of teaching, and his leadership as a boss. Ron wanted desperately to pass his passion on to others. Over the years teaching firefighting courses became a big part of his life. He did not just pass on his knowledge as an instructor he also encouraged and mentored firefighters and medics each day. Whether it was a probe firefighter, a new medic, his brother, his nephews, or his son he sparked the interest of many young people in the field of emergency service. Continuing his passion is the purpose of the Ron Skidmore Memorial Foundation. This foundation will not only secure his legacy but also help the next generation find and train for their passion.
Ron was also more than just a firefighter, medic, and leader. He was a husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and a friend. With all his roles and titles he brought the same personality and passion. These are the type of people that The Ron Skidmore Memorial Foundation will strive to encourage.
Individuals that are graduating from high school and are looking to start their college or university careers in the first responder field are encouraged to apply for the Inaugural Ron Skidmore Memorial $1000 scholarship. This scholarship is also offered to children of current first responders.
Along with the scholarship for a high school senior, the foundation is looking to help current first responders to continue their education or for a first responder starting their training but not attending a college or university.
The Ron Skidmore Memorial Foundation wants to establish itself as big part of the first responder community. We are looking to help families of local first responders when they may be in need.
As a continuing fundraiser for the foundation get your Red Watch and wear it proudly, as he did, to show your support for what he represented.
To get your Red Watch contact message any board member or email the foundation at rskidmorefoundation@gmail.com
Our amazing team of volunteers are committed to honoring Ron by continuing his mission to help young first responders improve their knowledge with training in their chosen area. We take our convictions and turn them into action.
